Sr. Manufacturing Engineer

BASIC FUNCTION
Performs varied tasks under supervision including, but not limited to, process flow analysis, development of core competencies, Equipment Selection and Justification, factory layout and optimization, and new manufacturing technology study for cost and productivity improvements.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Analyzes processes for improvement in flow, throughput times, quality and productivity. Runs audit studies after improvement to ensure that expected results are realized. Analyzes various product flow lines, manufacturing cells and grouped work centers for bottleneck operations, and determines what procedures and/or equipment breaks the bottleneck.
2. Contributes to product designs, assuring the manufacturability of the product while at the same time reducing costs and improving profitability..
3. Leads interdepartmental projects that are strategic in scope and multi-million dollar in size, such as plant re-arrangement, global expansions, setting up of remote manufacturing sites.
4. Evaluates, analyzes, justifies, and recommends manufacturing technology, machinery, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and facility changes for improved manufacturing processes, manufacturing quality, techniques and cost effectiveness, ensuring a product of the highest quality at the lowest cost, and ensuring processes of the highest quality and value.
5. Assists in various areas such as cost estimates, generates and modifies routings, etc. Works with Shop personnel to solve production flow and/or quality problems as they arise.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1. B.S. in Industrial Engineering, or similar technical degree.
2. Four to seven years experience in lean manufacturing and flow techniques, preferably in machining and heavy fabrication industry.
3. Demonstrated experience in the implementation of cellular manufacturing concepts
4. Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook at the Intermediate level.
5. Good technical writing skills.
