Relief Operator/Utility
Job Description: Under general supervision of Operations Manager, the position is responsible for the
operations transportation, storage and surveillance of Crude oil storage and transportation facilities including
the monitoring and operations of storage tanks, movement transactions, pumping equipment and
monitoring equipment and various piping components after normal business hours.
• Responsible for inspection and operation of pumps, tanks and piping components.
• Makes visual checks of Tanks, meters, gauges and pump equipment.
• Performs maintenance tasks and mechanical duties (pumps, valves, oil checks, etc.)
• Works with schedulers and third party customers to coordinate operating requirements.
• Coordinates product movement with Dispatching Department, shippers and third party customers.
• Performs quality control analysis, identifies product changes and segregates as required.
• Completes paperwork including, facility balance, meter calibrations and custody transactions
involving basic math skills.
• Work closely to understand our customer’s expectations and works to meet those expectations with
compliant and efficient plant operations.
Job Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer 2 years relevant field experience.
• Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and possess basic computer skills
including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Must demonstrate a commitment to understanding and complying with all Federal, State, Local and
Company regulations, policies, guidelines and procedures.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule , including working a 12 hour rotating shift to include
holidays, weekends and working relief for other operations personnel.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
• Good verbal/written communication skills, decision making skills and strong work ethic.
• Able to assume responsibility, work with little or no supervision, be flexible, perform duties and
handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful conditions.
• Ability to read and comprehend P&ID and PFD drawings.
• Self-motivated individual able to work independently or in a team environment and willing to
learn.
• Must be able to demonstrate sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and corrections
when problems are detected.
• Must have a history of being dependable and reliable, take pride in a job well done, and enjoy
working hard.
• Possess a strong commitment to personal and job safety.
